Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

Housed in a black-and-white bungalow originally built in 1880, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH) traces Dr. Sun's revolutionary activities in the Southeast Asian region and highlights the impact of the 1911 Chinese Revolution on Singapore as well as Singapore's contributions to the Revolution. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Chinese Revolution, the SYSNMH was re-opened to the public on 9 October 2011 after one year of renovation works. The revamped Memorial Hall features a new storyline and new galleries that introduce key community leaders in the early 20th century; highlights Nanyang as a base for Revolution; and explores the impact and influences of the 1911 Chinese Revolution on the Singapore Chinese community. Find out more about Sun Yat Sen in our programme including a talk by a curator followed by a guided tour of the memorial hall.

This programme has limited places; please book early to avoid disappointment.

Sri Mariamman Temple

The Sri Mariamman Temple is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. It is an agamic temple, built in the Dravidian style. Located on South Bridge Road, in the downtown Chinatown district. The temple serves mainly South Indian Tamil Hindu Singaporeans in Singapore. Due to its architectural and historical significance, the temple has been gazetted a National Monument.

Join us to learn more and be fascinated by our guide Subbiah Lakshman who will explain the basic philosophy that lies at the heart of the different forms of worship, and talks about the main gods and goddesses and the meaning of certain rituals.
