The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

The Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, also known as Wan Qing Yuan, reopened to the general public on October 10, 2011, after undergoing a year's renovation under the National Heritage Board. This reopening coincides with the centennial anniversary of the 1911 Revolution.

The historical double-storey villa housed Dr Sun Yat Sen, known as the 'Father of Modern China', during three of his many visits to Singapore between 1900 and 1911. As a museum, this memorial hall shows the role played by Singapore and Nanyang (Southeast Asia) in the 1911 Revolution, which culminated in Dr Sun becoming the first president of the provisional government in the Republic of China.

In addition to focusing on the contributions of Dr Sun's main supporters in Singapore, the museum also shows how the revolution left a lasting imprint on Singapore.
